DAY ONE (13 June 2009)
I have to wake up early to gather with COR'09 members at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, Singapore at 0700 (Singapore time). I was told to join Group D and introduced with each other. After a while, COR'09 members including myself set off to Bintan Island, Indonesia. The ferry took us there for about 1 hour.
I just received an sms message. Oh shit! It was from Indonesia services such as Telkomsel, Indosat and XL (weird name, isn't it?) and M1 service.
After we reached Bintan Island checkpoint at 0830 (Indonesia time, which is 1 hour behind Singapore time), we set off to Agro Beach Resort (Agro Campsite) in Bintan by bus. It took for about 1 1/2 hours. It was a such long journey that made us sleepy. After a few moment later, we have been reached there finally.
After we settled down, we played some team-bonding games that helped to bond our friendship and had a lunch. I bet you that you wanted to know how was my lunch. Am I right? Erm... It's was my first time to eat Indonesia food in my entire life. I did not mean to offend or insult to Indonesia's stuffs. The Indonesia food was quite okay especially with spicy.
After we ate lunch, we were given briefing regarding safety for snorkeling. Before we went for snorkeling in such big sea, we practised thoroughly on how to breathe properly and many more in swimming pool. Actually, it was most difficult task because sometimes after we submerged with "complicated goggles", some of water goes to my mouth, eyes and noses. I felt like I want to give up but my heart and mind told me not to give up so easily.
We were told to do snorkeling at White Sand Island opposite Bintan Island. My heart started to beat wildly as I was so worried that something happened to me. However, I dismissed this negative thought. We were taken there by speedboat that took for about 15 mintues. It was so cool to ride with speedboat. =)
After we reached at White Sand Island, I could not believe in my very own eyes and I was so mesmerised looking around the island. Do you know what? The sand was so "pure" and sandy. The seawater was so clear/transparent and clean that you could able to see through unlike in Singapore. I was so speechless. I am really thankful to Allah for creating such a beautiful and fansantic landscapes and creations. Allah Akbar (Allah is the Greatest)!
We were given a chance to snorkeling just outside the White Sand Island. I really can't wait for turn for snorkeling. It was my first time to do snorkeling. In order not to waste any precious time, we were given a chance to taste the Indonesian's life of sampan. Actually, I had terrible experience in difficulty in rowing the sampan. Luckily, I was guided how to row properly but I still did not know how to as it is the most difficult task.
After a few moment later, I saw instructors discussing and I sensed that our turn for snorkeling was about to cancel but Jay Lee (LifeSmith instructor) did not want to disappoint us. So he asked me and other groups to follow him through the sea. I submerged myself to see the marine creatures.
Frankly speaking, marine creatures are fadely destroyed (not totally) due to global warming. So everyone on this earth should lend their hands to conserve the marine life.
After we did snorkeling, we went back to Bintan Island but different location to camp out there for one night.
Meanwhile, we did our outdoor cooking in pitch dark which was night. Although our cooking food were simple just like instant noodles, we hurriedly ate them as it was so delicious. We felt full after we ate yet we continued to cook outdoor cooking and ate more foods. = ="
While we ate our foods, I could not believe in my very own eyes. Actually, It was my first time to see this in my entire life. Do you know what? It was actually stars. I knew that it was common among Singaporean. However, it was so many stars in starry night sky that I never seen in my life unlike in Singapore which is so little stars. So I admired seeing the stars many times and pondered myself how powerful Allah is.
If you don't believe me, you can ask my COR'09 members or even my Indonesian friends. I am really sorry that I could not take picture of it as it was too dark. = =" That's why I am planning to buy DSLR to get best shot for COR'10. ;)
After that, we went back to tents to get enough sleep. *zZzZz* Before I went to sleep, I admired the stars in starry night sky for few times. =)
